One of two drawings Maggi Hambling made of Oscar Wilde with her eyes shut.

While submitting ideas on paper to make a memorial statue of Wilde a reality Maggi Hambling became obsessed with Wilde again. Having delivered her maquette, she went on drawing him, painting him, making more sculpture of him.

Maggi's maquette was chosen out of 6 other people who were asked to submit a maquette. See Public Commissions to find out when and where this sculpture was unveiled
